Get ready to say goodbye to Kristin Giannas of WKMG-Channel 6.
Wednesday will be her last day at the CBS affiliate.
"I am moving on to finish my studies and pursue full-time meteorology opportunities," she said in an email. "Three years ago, I was hired as a multimedia, one-man-band journalist, but eventually started reporting for the 11 p.m. news, and then became the weekend weather anchor.
"I have a certificate in climatology and meteorology from the University of Florida and have been working on getting a meteorology certification through Mississippi State University. I'm almost there!"
She said she knew Orlando was a great news market but never imagined it would be such an adventure.
"I've covered stories from the neighbor who fought to keep his front-yard vegetable garden in College Park to the release of graphic dash-cam video in the death of Marlon Brown," she wrote.
But she found the weather coverage most rewarding. "I was sent to Pensacola last year to cover the life-threatening flooding after a monster storm system lumbered across the country," she wrote.
She said she was grateful for the opportunities at WKMG and added that she "can't wait to see where the weather takes me. "
