Covered Bridge Collapse
Today I one-man-banded a story about a driver who forgot he was hauling a tall pizza trailer when he tried driving under a low covered bridge.
I don't know if that makes sense.
I'm tired.
The bridge cover collapsed and no one was hurt, thank God.
Here's the story.

Name Day
Name days are a big deal for most Greeks.
According to the Orthodox Church, nearly every day of the year is dedicated to the memory of a Christian Saint or martyr.
When someone is named after one of the saints, that day becomes their "name day" and is celebrated.
I celebrate with Saint Chryse, who is commemorated on October 13.

My friend Stavroula's mom surprised me with a tray of galaktobureko, my FAVORITE Greek desert, which I shared with family and friends after dinner.
My best friend Stavroula and I
Stavroula is one of the strongest people I know.
I met her several years ago through a mutual friend.
Without getting into too much detail, Stavroula is 22 and has had two heart transplants.
This past summer she was in intensive care because of some complications.
I went to see her on Memorial Day.
The nurse caught us Greek dancing, (Stavroula was pulling her IV pole around as we did the Sousta).
What I'll never forget though, is seeing what Stavroula had placed behind her hospital bed.

Busy week
I started my week in Daytona:
AARP names Daytona Beach top livable, low-cost place to retire
On Wednesday I covered closing arguments in the Kelly Mathis trial.
On Thursday I was live at noon with: 36 charged in suspected Jamaican drug ring.
Then Local 6 intern Tyler Vasquez and I put together a package on Orlando's "Car Share" program.
On Friday I put together a story on a website that sells the wedding memories of divorced women.
Tonight, I'm covering a sad story- a woman was shot to death and deputies say it was an accident.
They're still working to find her family.

Figs!
My friend Katerina's dad gave me figs from his fig tree.
I decided to make a salad dressing:
(Figs, 1 tablespoon of balsamic vinegar, 1/2 cup of olive oil in food processor... salt and pepper to taste).
Salad: spinach, tomato, onions, walnuts and goat cheese, (with my fig dressing).
Side: pita and tarama.
